Impostor syndrome
It's no wonder there is such a feeling of impostor syndrome within the software development community. Having just finished a PHP course in school I thought that now would be a great time to get the PHP developer certification from lynda.com. During this process I have been struck with one how much more you learn in the classroom, compared to the speed taught online, and to how little I feel I know, versus how far along I've been able to just coast in this course. It's just been easy, and I don't think the lynda.com course is bad, but I feel like there's still so much more I need to learn, before I feel like a proper developer. It makes me wonder if people ever feel like they're a proper developer, instead of an impostor. I am sure that as I gain experience the feeling will pass, particularly with how I focus on the inner workings of things and really getting to know the system.

Back Ups
Today I was retaught the importance of backing things up. While updating another site I accidentally overwrote my own site. Luckily I had a relatively up to date site backed up, but my site lost some of the eloquence it had gained through recent updates. So I now have a much more frequent backup in place. It also gave me the opportunity to ensure that I don't use master accounts when updating. If I had been using an ftp account dedicated for only that secondary site, then this would never have happened.
