I explained my professional side on the Home page, so this is me when I am not programming.
I am a blackbelt in Shaolin Kung Fu. The test was a rigorous year long ordeal which required that I do 50,000 pushups, situps over the course of the year, 20 hours of leadership, negotiation, and health training(20 hours each) as well as a leadership practicum, which is lead and followed by an 8 hour exam where every aspect of my training is tested. Oh and at the end I broke a brick in half with my bare hands. That aside I've found it's a great way to stay in shape and have fun with some really great people. It taught me a lot about how to respond to criticism and realistic expectations of other people.
For fun I installed Arch Linux on a machine and built the gui and got everything running myself. It helped my learn more about Linux and learn some of the ins and outs of an alternative os. The docs are very helpful and it actually changed my approach to programming to look at docs much more now. I also am learning Vim to ensure a consistant text editor across platforms and I've seen the legendary Vim users in action and one day would like to be one.
I play many instruments, guitar, bass, ukulele, harmonica, piano, and drums. Some are better than others and I've even managed to make money at guitar when I was in a band. I love music, making it and listening to it.
I love video games. Overwatch is my current favorite, but I tend to draw from many genres of games for fun, depending on the day. I also enjoy trying my hand at building games, and have played with both Unity and Unreal engine to try things out. Once I am done school I plan on trying my hand at a fully functional game to really test myself and to prove I can. Games have brought me such joy, I would love to give that back to someone else as well.
